“The Snowstorm” is an original work of physical theatre which uses the richly textured solo piano compositions of Sergei Rachmaninoff, played live on stage, to score an original, fairy-tale like drama. This theatrical fusion of dance and spoken dialogue played by actors creates a true movement theater blend.

In 19th century Russia, the lives of three characters are intricately woven together and bound by fate: Dmitri, the heir to his family’s massive arms manufacturing enterprise is a widower hiding a dark secret. Paval, his shy artistic son escapes into a vivid fantasy world to process the world around him. And Anna, an unmarried woman too young to be a spinster, lives in a world of shadows, emotionally paralyzed by an event ten years ago.

Until she meets eight year old Paval. Though shy on the outside, in his fantasy world, Paval is the hero of his own adventure. To Anna, the boy’s resemblance to her lost love seems a rebirth. But Paval comes with a father, Dmitri, who's introduction to her life is not so straightforward. Anna and Dmitri enjoy an attraction that terrifies them both, as Paval campagins for a new family unit.

All three learn that every piece of music has a story to tell when a piano recital brings them together.

"The Snowstorm" brings to life the music of one of the greatest classical composers of all time with the familiarity of a fable and the innovation of a physical theatre experience.
